Hello. My name is Robert Vaughn, known on the Treasure Depot as “relicpro.” My wife says I “live”
on the Forum. What can I say? The Treasure Depot is awesome! Born and raised in South Georgia, I
have been metal detecting with a Nautilus for over 20 years predominantly in the coastal Georgia
area. I also enjoy digging for bottles, flying planes and studying history.
Over the years I have been fortunate enough to find many nice civil war relics. My favorite find is my
1830’s Greek Revival home, located in historic Macon, Georgia, which was spared during Sherman’s
March to the Sea. My beautiful wife, Mary and I are currently restoring our home to
its original glory and love anything old. Mary owns an antiques business in Macon.
Nothing is better than rescuing lost artifacts and meeting new friends who share my love for the
hobby. I can’t wait to see my old friends and
meet many new ones—Team Nautilus WILL rule again and I am honored to be a part of it!
Hey, my name is Larry Carver from Rock Hill, South Carolina. I have
been metal detecting off and on since 1973. In the late 1980's, I visited Jerry
Tyndall( inventor of the Nautilus Metal Detector) in Coats, North Carolina
on my way to Averysborough Battlefield. Jerry asked me if I would like to
use a Nautilus down on the battlefield. I said sure! I scarcely new Jerry
through the Raleigh Club and yet he was really nice to me. A few months
later, I put in an order and Jerry made me a detector at cost since I was
an active member of the club. I went and picked it up and met his wife
Dotty. She too was just as nice as could be. I visited them again on
several different occasions and always looked forward to it. They made me
a part of the Nautilus family and I will always remember their
hospitality. On my third trip out to use the new detector, I found myself in the
deep deep woods at Bentonville Battlefield digging my first Confederate
Buttons. I had never dug a letter button and now I had 14 Block "I's" out
of one small area. What a thrill!! I am looking forward to this years GNRS in a
part of the country I have never been to. It will be fun digging relics with my
friends.
Hi, my name is Mark Madden, AKA bulitman22 on the Depot. I live in
Lumberton, North Carolina. I have been relic hunting for 20+ years. I
have had some great opportunities to hunt CW sites from Bentonville
NC to Port Hudson La. I have also had the great opportunity to dig over
in Europe both WW1 & WW2 sites and Waterloo(Napoleon). Digging is
not a hobby for me but a passion. I still get just as excited digging a CW
bullet as I did when I dug my first one over 20 years ago. I have always
used the Nautilus detector and I will be using the DMC 11ba for the 2009
GNRS. I have met some great people since joining the DEPOT. I am
very happy to be part of the Nautilus Team and look forward to digging
and meeting everyone this year at the GNRS.
BULLDOZING THE COMPETITION!
Keith McIntyre
I am a member of the Coastal Empire History Hunters Assoc.in Savannah.
I've been attending Depot hunts for around 8 years. This will be my third
consecutive GNRS on the Nautilus team. I am looking forward to seeing
everyone again.
Chris Ivers
Home State: North Carolina
I have been digging and collecting since I was 16 years old. I started out
digging coins and quickly gravitated to military artifacts, both dug and
non-dug. As a member of the Army Reserves I have been lucky enough to
relic hunt and scavenge throughout the worlds battlefields while on
different assignments. (The Iraqi helmet in the picture was a battlefield
pickup at an engagement site in Iraq from an abandoned battlefield on the
Iran / Iraq border from my last tour of duty). But Civil War relics remain my
first relic hunting priority with colonial artifacts running a close second!
Christopher Reimann
Hi, I'm Chris Reimann, 46, from Northern Virginia. Husband, Father and
Custom Homes Superintendent. I've been a Relic Hunter since 1998. I love
the thrill of recovery - I'm proud of all of my finds. This will be my fourth
TR hunt. I can't wait to meet you all and join the 2009 Team Nautilus
Champions. We WILL dig relics!
Melvin Young
I would like to introduce myself -- my name is Melvin Young (Mel NC). I
have been the Senior HVAC Technician at Rex Hospital for 23 years.
I have been metal detecting now for about six years. During that time I have
been involved with Triangle Relic Recovery Club. During the time I have been
in the club, I have held the Vice Presidency two years, President for two
years – looking like it is going to be three years. At this time we have
about 20 active members which gives me the opportunity to see lots of really
nice relics.
I was able to hunt the GRD in 2008. Recovered some really nice ink wells and
other relics. Without the work of Larry and his staff this would not have
happened for me. Thanks Larry and The Treasure Depot. Being on the
Nautilus Team with the lineup of guys on this Team, once again we will rule!
Team Captain-Larry Carver
Shannon Cripps
I am Shannon Cripps, this will be my 5th GNRS on Team Nautilus. I have
been detecting for 16 years, 7 of them with the Nautilus. Lived all over while
in the Navy so I have been able to dig in some unique places. Currently in
Illinois outside of St. Louis, Missouri digging the few relics guys wore
home. Can't wait to see old friends this fall and make new friends.
2007 WINNERS!
2006 WINNERS!
Barry Jett
This is my 3rd GNRS, so I am excited about participating with Team
Nautilus. I post on TD as local digger and currently live on a empty
horse farm in Beaverdam Va with my tolerant wife Nancy of 33 years.
My two daughters finally moved out a few years ago and took their
darn horses with them so I now have more time to spend on my
favorite hobby.
Growing up near the camps and battlefields around Fredericksburg
and Spotsylvania County provided a fortunate opportunity to enjoy
eyeballing and digging relics since the late 1950's. I have tried several
different detectors over the years, some that that no longer exist (has
anyone else used a Detectron?), but settled on the Nautilus brand
many years ago and have had very results with their products.
I look forward to meeting the other GNRS participants and will do my
best to help Team Nautilus.
2009
Hi, I'm Jeff Hines, 50, currently living in Arlington Virginia. Originally from
Virginia's Shenandoah Valley area, have lived and relic hunted in the
Fredericksburg/Stafford area, as well as the Manassas/Centreville area. I'm
currently concentrating on new areas in the Shenandoah Valley. I started relic
hunting in 1977 when I was living in the Manassas area. I've participated in
many GNRS hunts as well as the NS hunts. My detector of choice for relic
diggin is - what else - Nautilus (DMCIIBa). I'm really looking forward to the
next hunt - it's going to be a great bunch of guys to go diggin with.
Jeff Hines
Hi, I'm Tim Gibbs from Sanford, NC. This is my second GNRS. I have been

2008 WINNERS!
My name is Jim Filippi (Jim Filippi in Fl.). I am 36 years old, I am a
sergeant with the Florida Department of Corrections. I have been metal
detecting for 13 years. I water hunt and scuba dive in the summer and
relic hunt in the winter. I love metal detecting and am addicted to the
hobby. I plan on detecting until I can't move
anymore.
Jim Filippi
Hi, my name is Brian Gilliland and I live in Maplesville, AL. I am fortunate to live only
a few miles from where General Forrest decided to make a stand against General
James Harrison Wilson at Ebenezer Church on April 1, 1865. The church was used
as a hospital and several amputations took place there according to diaries. My best
find of all time said "I do" in that same church that we now attend every Sunday and
we now have 3 great little boys together ages 10, 8 and 5. My house is in a constant
uproar and things mysteriously break all the time!!! I could not ask for anything
more. Relic Hunting, what can you say about that? It is the greatest hobby that I
think exist today although Turkey Hunting is a close second. I was on the 2006
Nautilus team and I'm looking forward to attending another Depot hunt and helping
Team Nautilus extend the winning streak in 2009!! I'll be attending with my good
friend and digging buddy Mike Parker who is on another team but I will still allow him
to bottom feed in order to help the old guy out!!!!!!!!! Actually the picture I sent in is
of me holding his CS tongue found this year... See you all soon!!!!
Brian Gilliland
Hello. My name is Jason Keithley, aka Jason n' Virginia on the Depot. I live in
Gloucester, Virginia. I'm 36 years old, with a wonderful and understanding wife of 10
years, Amanda. Also, have two precious little girls 5 and 2 years old. I am a licensed
industrial AC / DC electrician. I have been diggin' for several years now. This will be
my first GNRS hunt, and looking forward to meeting everyone associated with the
Depot this year. Team Nautilus, I will do my best to help secure another trophy , as I
know I will be in good company, and among some of the best relic hunters ever!!!
Go Nautilus, and see ya'll soon!!
Jason Keithley
Relic hunting and the research for me is addicting. I've been on the hunt for 30+
years. I am looking forward to the hunt and getting reacquainted with some old
friends and hunting with new friends. On my wish list is a cannon tube and a gold
escudos. I live with my beautiful wife of 26 years, who teaches history and loves it as
much. We live in a house built in 1860 in Wilson NC. I am a USAF Vet and now
operate the local airport. Like all southerners I like to ride motorcycles, fish,
remember those that came before us and do little fly'n. Nautilus will prevail again in
the Palmetto state.
Steve Moore
I am Tim Bradshaw, AKA SandhillDigger. I am a Tarheel by birth, lived most of my life
in South Carolina. My passion for preservation of the past is coupled with the exciting
hobby of relic hunting. Got my start back around 1989 or so. Not too much is more
exciting than haveing a good place to dig and the ability to find stuff. Started out with
a cheap Brinkman TR detector, moved on and owned a Fisher 1265-x, 1266-s, CZ 6a,
even owned a Tesoro, but over the years my detector of choice has been Nautilus. As
far as finding stuff, I am always on the lookout for one of those knockout targets, but,
I can say that I still get a thrill when I can dig up an ole' three ringer!
I am married now since 1972, two sons and two grandsons! Now I will have to say,
over the last eighteen months, these two grandsons have attracted much of my
attention. They are the greatest treasures yet!
This is going to be my 3rd GNRS and I am excited about it being here in my home
state! We have some great sites, but living here does not grant automatic run of the
mill. Great places are hard to acquire these days, and I feel sure that where ever it is
that we are going is one of the places I would never have an opportunity to hunt
otherwise. Sooooo.......looking forward to it and see you all there !
Tim Bradshaw
My name is Tommy Baker, I'm from North Carolina. I enjoy metal detecting, riding my
bike, looking arrow heads and enjoys spending time with my family and friends.

Herb Holland
Herb Holland 58 years old. Married 4 children 2 grand sons. Been hunting with a Nautilus for 8
years.
Hey everybody, I'm James Askew from Raleigh, NC.. I have been relic hunting for close to 20 years or
so, most of it with a Nautilus. I've been a fireman with Raleigh FIre Dept. for almost 17 years and have
two beautiful daughters who drastically cut into my relic hunting time. I don't mind to much though, they
are far better than any relic I could hope to find. I have been on Team Nautilus 3 times if I remember
correctly and have had a great time meeting everyone and look forward to helping us win yet another
trophy.

I enjoy all aspects of this hobby; coin shooting, relic hunting, bottle digging, hut digging. If it
involves digging for old stuff, count me in. I got into CW relic hunting in the 90's when I
moved to Virginia and really became hooked when research on my ancestors revealed that
there were several who served in Virginia militia and cavalry units during the war giving me a
much more personal connection to my finds. This will be my 3rd GNRS. I will be using a
DMC-IIB with another DMC-IIB for a backup. Go Nautilus!!!
